- The medieval city , with its winding streets, is guarded by a series of fortified gates. A monumental staircase, which the pilgrims climbed, leads to the esplanade of the sanctuaries , where the Saint-Sauveur basilica, the Saint-Amadour crypt (classified as a world heritage site), the Saint-Anne and Saint-Anne chapels are side by side. Blaise, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Notre-Dame (where the Black Madonna is) and Saint-Michel. The whole is dominated by the Palace of the Bishops.
- The Religious City or Sanctuary of Rocamadour is a Marian city built on the side of the cliff of the Alzou canyon, in the town of Rocamadour in Lot, France. Built in several stages from the eleventh century, most of its religious buildings dating from the twelfth century, this city includes the access staircase and a square around which are a basilica, a crypt and seven chapels, one of which accommodates a 12th century black Madonna.It benefits from numerous protections: it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is made up of several historic monuments which have been classified and registered several times.
